Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Huh? Just pointing out that this news has gone global, as I'm sure some have noticed the search of traffic today. It's tragic that these Finns died and a lot of people want answers. This isn't the only time we've had a 'Kambodza News' story that has drawn international attention, so not sure what your issue is with me mentioning that we have a lot of readers today from the victims' home country.

Not to dispute the role alcohol allegedly plays here but another factor at 3AM is that the roads are less crowded thus permitting high speeds.

If this guy were just as drunk at 3PM there'd be an accident but I'm thinking so much more likely to not be a fatal one.

The crashed tuktuk has a Secrets bar advert on the back. That may mean the driver was based outside that bar. Secrets bar is popular with visitors from Pattaya as there is a sister bar of the same name there.
I don't mean to suggest that the bar is in any way responsible. But people may want to track the men's movements.
RIP all three men.

The Lexus hit the tuk tuk and then dragged it. Meant the car didn’t stop after the crash, the driver just kept going. Like in a Hollywood movie. The drunk guy was out to kill and achieved just that.

RIP to all those who died. Based on the drunk’s driving, a Prius might not have saved them, a cement truck might have.

I hope justice finds the drunk. And the spirits of the dead abuse him everyday until he gets to the other side.

I'm Finnish and the accident has been in the news nationwide. Also this forum was mentioned.

The laws in FInland (and most of the Europe) strictly prohibit publishing any information about the deceased. Yet here they are, corpses and indentity cards and all...

Overall, very tragic and shocking. Seeing pictures about the case adds to the shock. I wish I will never die in Cambodia.

Wow, you are just so intelligent you would have still been alive, unlike these 3 gentlemen.

As reported by the Finnish newspaper, YLE News:

News 2.3.2019 18:21 | updated 2.3.2019 18:23
Two Finns killed in traffic accident in Cambodia
According to local media two Finnish citizens were killed when the tuk-tuk in which they were travelling was hit by a car.

Two Finns have reportedly died following a traffic accident in Cambodia, Finland’s Foreign Ministry confirmed to news agency STT on Saturday.

Cambodia media had previously reported that the two Finns died in a collision in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh.

"The Foreign Ministry is aware of and is attending to the case of two Finns who died in Cambodia," ministry spokesperson Harri Kilpi told STT.

According to reports by Cambodian media and the discussion forum Cambodia Expats Online, the Finns were travelling in a tuk-tuk moped taxi when a passenger car crashed into them. The Cambodian tuk-tuk driver was also killed in the collision.

The Foreign Ministry declined to disclose any details of the incident and also refused to confirm or deny the media reports.

"Unfortunately we cannot comment on the details due to personal privacy and consular confidentiality considerations," Kilpi commented.
