At 8pm on 27 November 2016, a man attacked a husband and wife with a scythe at Prey Nob district, Preah Sihanouk province. The husband, a 66 year old firewood cutter, died of his wounds and his wife was seriously injured. The motive for the attack is unknown but it is reported that the 58 year old suspect had mental problems.

Husband Died, Wife Seriously Injured, After They Were Attacked By A Man With Machete

Sihanoukville: At around 7:30 pm on 27 November 2016, a murder took place in Ou Trachakchet village, Samrong commune, Prey Nop district, Sihanoukville where Ouk Vantha, 66, was hacked to death with a machete by a man who is unfamiliar by the majority in the village, Prom Ken, 58 years. Police said Mr. Prom is believed to be mentally ill. Both Mr. Ouk and his 32 years old wife, Eearn Sokha, were hacked by Mr. Prom, in the neck, leaving Mr. Ouk died at the scene while Ms. Eearn was seriously injured. Mr. Prom is being sought by police as he fled the scene after the attack.
