Family in Tears as Son's (Alleged) Murderers are Released on Bail
Cambodia News, (Prey Veng Province): In Prey Veng Province, people were surprised to learn that the Investigating Judge of the Provincial Court has decided to release two accused murderers on bail on 15 December 2020, when the family of the dead man have not yet performed the 100-day funeral ceremony for their son.
In this case, the parents of the victim are shouting for justice, because the judge has released the two men who are accused of beating their child to death, and who were arrested by police and sent to Prey Veng provincial court charged with "aggravated violence causing the death of the victim."
A source from Prey Veng province said on the afternoon of December 15, 2020, that the two suspects are named as 1/ Pov Visal, Male, 30 years old, living in Chheu Treng Village, Reak Chey Commune, Ba Phnom District, Prey Veng Province, and 2/ Cheng Sophorn, male, 17 years old, living in Troeung village, Reak Chey commune, Ba Phnom district, Prey Veng province.
However, the parents of the dead man are crying because the murder suspects are out of jail before the family have even had time to make a 100-day funeral. Mr. Aun Yoeun and his wife Chhuon Samai, who are the parents of the victim, Yean Samnang, a resident of Kraing village, Theay commune, Ba Phnom district, Prey Veng province, told the media that their son was beaten to death like an animal on the street.
Then finally they thought they would have justice! The authorities arrested the two perpetrators and sent them to court for legal action. But then, the investigating judge released the two murderers on bail, and the parents feel cheated because they are still mourning their boy.
