Just another sad news.

not sad;
people looking for a better life
currently happening all over the world.
Cambodians ( not to mention Burmese and Laotians) have been going to Thailand to work for ever.

In Fact most of Essan ( north eastern Thailand ) was populated by Laotians that were "captured", kidnapped in the 1800's

That's true. After the Lao rebellion against Siam in 1826, the Thais sacked Vientiane and relocated the whole population to Issan. This was the same technique that had been used throughout the region for centuries. In earlier times, when Ayutthaya defeated the Angkorian Empire, and during later wars, they would drag off most of the Khmers as slaves. This was one of the main reasons why Thailand became so powerful.

i was shocked with the number of Cambodians working illegally in Thailand when the junta government of Thailand sent them back a few months ago. I couldn't believe it could be that many. :(. @Richard, why do you think working as factory worker can bring them better life. I think it is just surviving. If they are highly educated and working in any companies in Thailand i would say so.

True or not, this was the big excuse they used for the Vattanac Tower just sitting there with no work being done on it for all that time. They said that all the skilled workers had gone to Thailand.
