Endangered Siamese Crocodile eggs discovered.

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

After seeing the crocodiles trying to finish off the two year old baby, I really don't care if they all become extinct. Name one redeeming thing about them.

That was on a crocodile farm, nobody has been eaten by Siamese Crocodiles in a long time.

Nobody ever got eaten by the critically endangered Crocodylus siamensis, ever.

PHNOM PENH, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Ten baby Siamese crocodiles have been spotted in Cambodia, raising hopes that conservation efforts have achieved a breakthrough for a species once believed to be extinct in the wild, said Fauna & Flora International (FFI) on the press release on Wednesday.

The hatchlings were sighted in late January by FFI conservationists at the Veal Veng crocodile sanctuary, a protected part of a river in the Cardamom Mountains, Pursat province, the press release said.

It added that this was only the second time in a decade that baby Siamese crocodiles have been seen in the wild in Cambodia.

"This is a really significant moment and it feels like we have reached a turning point for the Siamese crocodile," said Pablo Sinovas, flagship species manager in Cambodia for FFI.

"For a species that for a long time was believed to be extinct in the wild to be breading[sic] and producing hatchlings is extremely exciting," he said.
