Funny how these bombs have been in the ground for over 40 years, and now all these villagers suddenly become sick when the issue came to attention.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I hate to be cynical, but whichever way you look at this its fked up. Either these sick people have been suffering for decades and nobody bothered about them (until now because its useful), or about 100 people have recently been exposed to things that are very bad for their health in order to make a point.
I'm all for the US cleaning up their chemical weapons, but this smells bad. I hope I'm wrong, and this is all one big coincidence.
http://www.khmertimeskh.com/5088012/sco ... -exposure/A total of 96 people, including 67 women, have sought medical treatment for suspected exposure to chemical bombs at Svay Rieng Provincial Hospital, local health officials said yesterday.
Svay Rieng Health Department director Ke Ratha said most of the villagers had skin and respiratory complaints.
Deputy district governor Sour Mol said about 90 percent of the patients have now returned home after getting treatment and medicine from the hospital.
“Some of the patients had been exposed to chemical bombs for a long time,” he said, adding they had different symptoms such as respiratory problems, skin allergies, ulcers and birth defects.
“They have been sick for a long time, but never reported it to us until the health check campaign.”

I wonder how long it takes for Agent Orange and other chemicals to work their way out of a person/their lineage?

There are probably many sites in the country where CS gas or whatever it is seeps from long lost bombs. It's just convenient to mention the victims now.
Australia has two sites where chemical run off from Air Force bases over the last thirty years has poisoned many residents. Cancers and skin and lung problems. Chemicals were used to flush out the fuel tanks of planes. Many poor men who had to work inside F111 fuel tanks died long ago.
Watched River Monsters the other night, he found the feared puffer fish in Kandal Province. One chap he found had a testicle bitten off a few years ago.
But the fisherman talked a lot about the bombs in the Mekong that he might snag. All he caught on his rod was branches, of course.
Beware the puffer fish, although the wife from Kandal says it is delicious.

CMAC Searches for More US Chemical Bombs
11/11/2017 15:12
Svay Rieng (FN), Nov 11 - Heng Ratana, Director General of Cambodia Mine Action Center (CMAC), reported earlier today that CMAC recently sent more experts to continue the search for more US chemical bombs around other communes in Romeas Hek District, Svay Rieng Province.
He added that CMAC started the search two days ago and discovered 15 more US chemical bombs around Koki Commune and Ampel Commune.
According to Ka Ratha, President of Svay Rieng Provincial Hospital, 92 patients are currently being treated in Svay Rieng Hospital while 3 more children are being treated in Phnom Penh.
The patients are commonly found to have abnormal skin rashes and diseases.
After a reliable study, the bombs are found to have Nitrogen Mustard or known as Blister Agents which could cause diseases such as swollen skin, inflamed skin and shortness of breath.
This finding contradicts the US statement which claimed that the bombs are merely tear gas...

Impressive the way HE trumpets the shocking "facts" about the US in all his speeches to his gatherings yet is always trying to get the US to give concessions and aid through other non Khmer public avenues.
