Another chemical bomb was dug up by villagers in Svay Rieng province. Nine people who were affected were treated at the local hospital, but the longterm effects of the exposure are unknown. The chemical compound of the powder was not reported.

Nine ill from chemical bomb

Nine villagers have been sent for medical treatment after being exposed to a chemical bomb in Svay Rieng province’s Korki commune yesterday.
Sour Mol, deputy governor of Romeas Hek district, said nine people, including one man, had been affected.

“Their symptoms include eye pain, aches and difficulty breathing,” Mr Mol said, adding that all of them were receiving treatment at the district hospital.

Kuch Sitha, deputy director of the provincial referral hospital, said the villagers were affected while they were farming, according to a provincial health department report.

“While they were clearing the grass, they touched on a plastic package containing yellow powder,” he said, adding that the powder was a chemical substance used in barrel bombs.

Ms Nop, who received an injection while staying in hospital, said she was concerned about her future health following the chemical exposure.

“I don’t what it was, but after exposure, we coughed, sneezed, and some of my colleagues vomited,” she said, adding that a foul-smelling smoke had been emitted.

or maybe this shit has been slowly seeping from rusting containers for many years and at least some of these people have been sick with mysterious symptoms no one could explain. Once the bombs were found they had a cause and went to seek medical attention, and once the medics knew about the bomb they had a cause to investigate so they knew how to treat the previously unexplained symptoms

30 April 2018
Svay Rieng: In the past 6 months, the authorities and CMAC have discovered 4 American chemical bombs in Korki commune in Svay Rieng.
There have been a number of health problems for local people exposed to the chemicals in these bombs, and many people have been taken to hospital suffering from respiratory problems and terrible skin ailments.

People living in Korki commune are worried about the consequences of on-going exposure to these bombs, particularly to children. The bombs continue to be found and dug up, and the villagers hope that all the bombs will end up being removed.

Not since WW1 did USA ever use chemical bombs. However, a little clarification... Agent orange (dioxin) was not a bomb, but sprayed from aircraft. Agent Orange (civilian name 245T and 24D) is different from what was used commercially in agricultural/pastoral production in the civilian use. While still the same chemical, it had some additives in what was sprayed over Vietnam and eastern Cambodia. It was not a bomb!. The military use of agent orange was an overkill. Just one coffee cup into 44 gallons of spray in agricultural use was sufficient to kill weeds. However, in Vietnam war years, it was not diluted in water, but in diesel and the mix was 50% poison, 50% diesel. Very much an overkill. The additives in agent orange compared to 245T and 24D created serious respiratory problems if inhaled. Subsequently, Agent Orange is a chemical weapon, however... was sprayed . Was never in a bomb.

So what the heck is this chemical weapon Cambodia claims it to be?? In the more than 10 years I worked as a volunteer in Vietnam and Cambodia extracting UXO, none of them were chemical bombs. Just artillery shells, bombs and mines.

Agreed. These bombs need to be analyzed properly and proper conclusions drawn.

Because USA wanted Agent Orange at the cheapest possible price it was produced with less quality restrictions and ended up with a higher Dioxin level compared to the 245T and 24D that was used in the ag sector. Lots of this product was produced for the USA in New Plymouth ,, New Zealand.

They didn't have chemical bombs dropped on them but they do have the same problem as other countries that were exposed to those chemicals.

As far as I can follow they are talking about some CS gas or variant delivery system, used to penetrate tunnels and to generally make an area too uncomfortable to stay in. Apparently the chemicals can decay and form dangerous compounds. This is all off the top of my head, I'll see what I can dig up later.
