Drunk Officers Sanctioned for Firing Guns in Restaurant for Fun
Cambodia News (Banteay Meanchey): On December 15, 2020, according to Lieutenant Seth Los, the police chief in Banteay Meanchey, three officers in Banteay Meanchey, who are accused of shooting off their firearms while they were drinking, have been removed from their positions, had their rank reduced, and have been fined by police administration for their behavior on 11 December.
On December 11, 2020, in Ouambel village, Serey Sophon city, a group of 3 police officers were drinking in a restaurant. When they were all good and drunk, they began to fire off their pistols inside the restaurant for fun. The local people in the restaurant did not find it funny, and they called the police, who went to the scene.
After the event, Lieutenant Seth Los reported that on December 15, he ordered the three men to be punished. The 3 police officers have been identified as Chim Oeuth, Siek Bon, and Odom Charoth. The police chief said that the punishment is also intended as a warning to the other police officers.

^ Yeah, they look like kids. Give them a gun and then fill them with beer, and what could go wrong ?
I hope the police chief took their toys away and made them stand in the corner.

Jesus Christ, why don't the police have a fucking armory where they turn in their firearms when not on duty?!?
Then no one will be tempted to act like John Wayne after a half a glass of Black Panther and ice.

^^^ I got the impression that he was just the driver or gopher for the privileged, freshy boy cop. He's thinking, "This is the sorta shit I have to put up with every day." (yawn)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but cops (in the US at least) are always armed. Even if they are forced to turn in their weapons to an ‘armory’ they all carry a back up gun as well.Brody wrote:Jesus Christ, why don't the police have a fucking armory where they turn in their firearms when not on duty?!?
Why? There’s always a possibility of 1) having a crime in progress. Many police departments mandate that off-duty cops must intervene 2) running into a criminal. Especially a just released one that still remembers that officer’s face and voice. Revenge runs deep.
That being said, carrying with a risk of being drunk is a no-no. Carrying into a bar (full of drunks), is also verboten. Firearm carry is a great responsibility. Negligent discharge is an utter betrayal of that responsibility.
My personal feelings, of course.

Guess what? This isn't the US and low ranking officers are only allowed to carry weapons while on duty.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 4:30 amSorry to burst your bubble, but cops (in the US at least) are always armed.Brody wrote:Jesus Christ, why don't the police have a fucking armory where they turn in their firearms when not on duty?!?
Silence, exile, and cunning.
