Drunk man burns down the house in total meltdown

Pursat province: A 68-year-old man burnt down the family home at 5:20pm on June 1, 2018 in Kompong municipality, Anlongvil commune, Kandieng district, Pursat province.
Kandieng district police chief Lieu Seng Him reported that Mr. Ou Sarim, 68, was arrested on the complaint of his wife, Kem Sok, 38, that the suspect allegedly drank alcohol before burning down their house and destroying all their possessions, including their car, TV, and furniture.
The authorities concluded that the fire was indeed caused by the suspect, because the couple had been arguing about the husband's drinking, and then his wife walked away for a while and the fire broke out.
The suspect continues to be questioned at the Kandieng District Police Inspectorate on June 2.

Husband torches house in jealous rage

A 68-year-old teacher in Pursat province has been charged with causing intentional damage after allegedly burning down his house in a jealous rage over his younger wife, whom he accused of having an affair with a younger man.

Vor Sarim, 68, who taught at a primary school in Anlong Veol commue, caused $15,000 worth of damage, his wife said.
Among items destroyed were a Toyota Camry car, a motorbike, three bicycles, six wooden beds, six chairs, two televisions and cash.

The incident happened on Friday at about 5.30pm.
Kandieng district police chief Colonel Liv Senghim said Mr Sarim had come home drunk after drinking with friends.

Mr Sarim was jealous because he thought his wife Kem Sok, 38, had a younger boyfriend. When he arrived home, he saw his wife browsing Facebook. He accused her of betraying him by contacting and chatting with her boyfriend. The wife denied the allegations and they got into an argument.

“He accused his wife of having a love affair with a younger man,” Mr Senghim said. “He was jealous and angry at her. He then poured a bottle of petrol on the house and burned it.”
“The fire burned the house and destroyed everything in it,” he noted.

Mr Sarim then fled but was arrested by local police the same evening, Mr Senghim said, noting that the couple have a son aged ten.

It could have been worse, male sexual jealousy being what it is and for all we know, maybe she was having an affair.
