Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): A drunk Chinese man fell asleep while he was driving, crashed a fruit shake shop and a traffic sign, causing damages, at 1 am, on December 23, 2020, on-street 217/432, Sangkat Tumnup Tuk, Khan Beung Kengkong, Phnom Penh.

The local sellers said before the incident, a Chinese man had been drinking in that area, then he got into a Landcruiser car, plate PP2J-7758, and drove off on Street 271 from south to north. At the traffic light, the Chinese man's car was stopped for a while, and then the car started slowly moving forward, while the driver was sleeping. Suddenly, the car crashed into a fruit shake shop and then a traffic sign, so the car wasn't able to go any further, and people could see that the driver was fast asleep in the car.

The police and the reporters went to the scene to check the accident. The Chinese man woke up and got out of the car. The police showed him that he had caused an accident. So then, he called his representative to sort the problem, and the police took the Chinese man and his car to the police station, waiting for the fixer.

You can't expect the guy to realise he's drunk and shouldn't get behind the wheel to try to drive instead of sleeping it off in the back seat.

:dm: The best bit is where he calls his minder to "sort out the problem". Big wig drivers don't run away, they call their private hotline to get someone to "sort out the problem". Fixed. :thumb:
