Drunk Cambodians Kill Dog By Hanging it on Fence and Laugh

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Black dog is supposed to be the best to eat, but Khmer people told me only vietnamese eat dog. I don't think this is true, but it does indicate that eating dog is not "mainstream" in cambodia. They tell me that such and such restaurant sells dog meat but that they never go there - however, all the clientele are not vietnamese, of course.
I have seen westerners buying a puppy to eat in the Philippines. I will never forget it. :bad:
Cambodian also eat dog.

It's not a lie to say I love dogs in some meanings more than humans. Seeing this video makes me just rageing therefore. There's differences tho, so I don't condemn killing a dog generally. If it has a fast and as painless death as possible (and it's not a puppy) and serves people for a dinner afterwards, who might get some kind of meat only every couple of months - it's alright. If it's killing for joy, sadism or whatever other stupid reason, that's of course a whole different thing.

Besides that: Have eaten dog before in Afghanistan (you never say "no" when a local tribe offers you something - simple rule), which was fucking tasty. Eaten it twice since I'm in Cambo, both times on Koh Rong. Last time a illegal wood lodger had birthday and therefore his oldest dog (was dying away anyway) was placed on the BBQ. Very good, if prepared well. Sadly many Khmers don't know how to prepare it right and it just tastes like soy sauce afterwards. Waste of meat and a dog's life.

Side information: A grown up (and apparently) healthy dog is worth exactly $25 on Koh Rong.

There are dickheads who hurt animals in every country on earth. Sad but true. Didn't watch the video - I hate dogs but don't think I'd enjoy seeing one tortured and knowing that there's precisely nothing I can do for this dog... leads me to see no gain from watching. On the bright side, at least it wasn't a child.

Have eaten dog about 3 times in my 15 years here. It never failed to give me a fever. All my khmer friends told me it is very normal...?
IMO only omnivore and vegetarian meat is fit to eat.

Oft-quoted fallacy as dog meat is actually more expensive than other meats.

I have eaten dog a couple of times in Vietnam, where it is slowly going out of fashion, and it tasted like shit.

And yes, some Khmer eat dog too.

Can't talk about whole Cambodia, only about Koh Rong.

Fact there is: Way too many dogs around either way. They're not paying for it. A dog there is either wild or belongs to someone. If it's a wild dog, they obviously don't pay for it, so the price doesn't matter. If it has a owner, it only gets killed by the owner. Knowing a dog belongs to XYZ and killing it can get you in serious troubles and you can be happy not get killed as well.

Never had a fever or any other kind of sickness after eating dog.

My father lost a big contract years ago in China because they wanted him to eat dog at dinner, and he refused.

People who don't understand the bond between friends are not fit to do business with, he told me that at the age of 10, I gues si already knew it.
