Drunk American Backpacker Rachel Marie Worthy Falls from Funky Flashpacker in Siem Reap

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Yikes. She's moving around a bit, so I guess that's a good thing.

Presumably balconies in this case, and for a start you don't build retarded balcony fences that can be climbed by a 5yo, check the pictures. This design would be forbidden in a developed country respecting construction standards.
I did a vertical design myself in my building stairway but upon completion I realized my architect had not respected french standards leaving gaps of up to 20cm between bars so we had to add one more bar in every space as a very little child could have easily slipped in the gaps and fall from a height of up to half a floor.

You would think [ This design would be forbidden in a developed country respecting construction standards ] but my home town, the Gold Coast , it is a common practice to get drunk and climb out over the balcony. Happens every year on '' schoolies holiday ''

I would strongly suggest she be given a room on the ground floor upon her return.

According to someone on Facebook, this same thing happened last year in Siem Reap:

"I hope she is in the Royal Angkor International Hospital. The last girl that did this (somewhere else in Siem Reap for the same reason, last year) was told she had fractured her shoulder by a local clinic she'd been taken to. After she was relocated to the RAIH they discovered 3 fractured vertebrae. She was airlifted to Bangkok Hospital where 7 more were discovered. She's lucky she can now walk but if she'd been left where she was almost certainly would not be.

That was the Australian girl who fell off the roof at Mad Monkey Hostel in Siem Reap on January 1, 2015:

It's practically raining drunk backpackers in Siem Reap.

Would definitely be worth her getting a thorough check up and probably an MRI as well, I reckon.
