Government sets third anti-drug campaign
8 March 2018
The government has set its third anti-drug campaign from January 1 to December 31, 2018, according to a statement obtained yesterday.

According to the statement signed by Prime Minister HE on February 26, the campaign follows the success of previous campaigns to fight illegal drugs in a bid to protect the welfare of citizens and prevent problems caused by drug use.

It said Interior Minister Sar Kheng was appointed president of the campaign while Deputy Prime Minister Ke Kim Yan, chairman of the National Authority for Combatting Drugs, was named vice president.

Kandal: On March 7, 2018, police cracked down when they noticed a woman named Sun Phally, called Srey Nok, 25, behaving suspiciously outside a factory located in Toul Salpa Village, Prey Poch Commune, Ang Snoul District, Kandal Province.
Police were investigating because on the day of the incident, intelligence personnel had received information from the masses that there were signs of drug trafficking at the scene.
The accused drug trafficker was found with two small bags of white chemicals and a cellphone.

She also tested positive for drug use.

Young and Beautiful Girl is Arrested with 3 Small Packets of Drugs
Phnom Penh: A 18 year old, Phalla Chantry, was arrested for selling drug on March 14 at 1:30 am in Sangakat Stras Chok, Khan Doun Penh, Phnom Penh. The police confiscated 3 small packs of drug from the suspect.

The suspect was detained at Khan Daun Penh Police station while awaiting trial.

Police Cracks Down [On] 2,443 Drug Cases within Four Months

Phnom Penh (FN), May 1 - Within the first four months of 2018, anti-drug police have cracked down on 2,443 drug offenses, arrested 4,845 people, 419 female, according to the anti-drug campaign’s report in April, 2018.

The report added police confiscated 93 kg and 684 packages of drug; 23kg and 122,694 plants of dried marijuana; 23 cars; 626 motorbikes; 1,511 mobile phones; 7 handguns and 6 long guns.

KAMPOT PROVINCE - On May 1, 2018, the provincial police commission and Kampong Trach district police force cracked down on drug trafficking and drug users, arresting 3 men and 1 woman.
Four suspects included:

1. Trao Sophea (called Ginger), 18-year-old male.
2. Khim Srey Lin, female, 17, from Prey Touch pagoda village, Prek Mohatep commune, Lektek district, Kandal province (wife).

3. 22-year-old Sarunboun, male, from Russey village, Pong Teuk commune, Damnak Chinglat district, Kep province.
4. Lim Vibol, male, 25 years old, O'Dong village, Pong Teuk commune, Damnak district, Kep province.

Cambodian Police Cracks Down on 3,192 Drug Cases in First Five Months

Phnom Penh (FN), June 1 - Within the first five months of 2018, anti-drug police cracked down on 3,192 drug offenses, arrested 6,367 people, 557 female, according to the anti-drug campaign’s report in May, 2018.

The report added that police confiscated nearly 100kg and 1,144 packages of drug; 23kg and 123,016 plants of dried marijuana; 28 cars; 764 motorbikes; 1,797 mobile phones; 7 handguns, 9 long guns and 109 scales.
