A Domestic Family Dispute Turns Violent: Son Hacks his Father to Death in a Pool of Blood
http://kohsantepheapdaily.com.kh/article/114145.html
Stung Treng Province: A man was arrested by the competent authorities at 2:30 in the afternoon of February the 2nd after he had hacked his stepfather to death leaving him in a pool of blood following a small verbal argument in the family.
This incident of a son killing his stepfather happened at 12:30 midday in the afternoon of February the 2nd 2015, near the San River, in Reachea Nou Kaul village, Stung Treng town district. Sources at the scene of the crime said that the perpetrator and the victim (his stepfather) lived together in a metal roof house.
The perpetrator confessed to the crime, saying that before the confrontation himself and his stepfather were preparing two ducks to eat for the family supper and they had bought a litre of white liqueur to add to the litre they had already drunk.
When the father was drunk he started looking for trouble and was telling his son to get out of the house, but the son said, "wait until we have dug up the potatoes and gotten the money from that, then I'll leave." But by this time the father in law wasn't listening and he took a hatchet and chased and struck the son but it didn't cause any injuries. Seeing this behaviour the son got a knife and stabbed his step-dad once, his step-dad then got a long wooden mallet and hit back, but the son snatched a mallet and hit his stepfather before he himself was hit, then he got a knife and stabbed his stepfather to death. This all happened in one spot.
Currently the suspects is under investigation at the province police headquarters, whilst the police construct a case against him to charge him under criminal law.

I second the translation. Way better than the Khmer English newspapers.

Brutal! Definitely sounds like self-defense.
