Desperate Woman Tries to Give Away her Baby

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Some of you disgust me.
Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.

Bumps up a thread from 2018, to leave a noxious comment like that = troll post. :whip:

It's fine to bump up old threads if you have something INTERESTING to add to the topic. This comment just leaves a nasty taste.

What is nasty about it?
Cultures that practice bridewealth have much fewer divorces because men have to work for one year or sometimes longer to save for marriage. Pussy does not come free. These are cultures where women have higher value than cultures where girls lose virginity to their school boyfriend and usually end up divorced a few years after marriage. Man values woman more if he needs to work to have her. Bridewealth tradition helps preserve a strong family unit in the society that practices it. I applaud khmers for having it, they know how to protect their culture from outside influence.

If you read the OP you should work out why I thought that the comment was nasty and inappropriate. It is not even on topic.
(For those who can't be bothered reading the topic before commenting, the OP concerns a poor recently widowed woman, who was accused by villagers of selling her baby, but was in fact looking for an orphanage because she could not feed it. The fact that the baby was a boy is neither here nor there.)

what they call a choice in USA is only a choice for the female....she can murder the child or force some MAN to pay for it for 18 years....he has no choice.
I think the kid is lucky....

I agree it’s murder but men are often complicit. Not me; I was raised Catholic and I know the value of a baby. After my divorce I went on a rebound in China. I swear to God my plan was to spend 6 months in China, earn some cash and then whore it up in Cambodia for like 10 years and burn out on drugs but my rebound got pregnant so I had to marry or she would abort. That would make me complicit in the murder of what turned out to be a beautiful baby boy. So instead of whores and drugs, at 58 the good Lord gave me a son, which saved me from my whoring and drugie ways. Just goes to show babies are a blasting. This sounds like a good woman honestly. It would have been so easy to bin that child.

Good luck to her.

You were raised Catholic and know the value of a baby? Sure, a baby that can grow up and then be raped by priests and other clergy? And then have the whole sordid business covered up by the Vatican? Or neglected till a premature death and thrown in a sewer? It's always amazing how supposed religious people say they care so much about fetuses but then treat unmarried mothers and their progeny with such utter disdain and contempt. Say a Hail Mary for the Tuam Babies.

The “Magdalene Laundries,” for-women scandal climaxed in 2017, when a Irish Government report revealed that from 1925 to 1961, at the Bon Secours Mother and Baby Home, in Tuam, County Galway, babies who died—nearly 800 of them—were routinely disposed of in mass graves or sewage pits. Not only Priests, and other male Orders had behaved despicably, so had the Holy Nuns.
How ironic that the Roman Catholic Church bans Atheists, Homosexuals, has a ban on Female Priests and all things female including banning divorce, contraceptives, abortion but yet protects and accepts Pedophiles as long as they are male and more importantly that they are ordained Priests within the Church. This Roman Catholic Church is morally corrupt and is an organisation dominated by corrupt conservative Christian Pedophiles. For centuries the Roman Catholic Church knew about and tried to cover-up an epidemic, a holocaust of sexual rape, torture and the death of millions of children within their organisation, even going so far as keeping a secret record. The Roman Catholic Church knew that its Clerics systematically raped millions of children in every country they operated in. They even kept records that were never turned over to authorities for prosecution. The Roman Catholic Church actively protected their pedophiles, they even promoted them to even higher positions within the Church. This was true conservative Catholic values. Catholic Priests meanwhile demanded that each child, or family member recognise their “obligation to God” while they, the clerics protected and enabled active pedophiles from within their organisation, to feed and prey on the rape of millions of innocent children, under the cloak of religion.

Look in the mirror, what makes you so special? The luck of being born in the top 20%. Half the world lives on what a bottle of beer sells for.
Go tell it to Bill gates and jeff bazos. These figures mean bugger all. It depends on the cost of living in your country and culture.

This is an ignorant comment plain and simple that feeds into just about every stereotype of Catholicism. The one that really bothers me though, believe it or not, is the last ignorant comment about saying a Hail Mary. There may have been a time when a cult of Mary thrived in the Church; I’m pretty sure my grandmother said Hail Maries. Now though it’s more aligned with the Protestant view and Jesus is the focus. In other words, the last thing I do is get on my knees and say an Our Father, beg for forgiveness and then ask for things. You should try; you’ll be surprised.
