Re: Desperate Cambodian Workers Caught Crossing Thai Border Daily
Cambodia News, (Battambang province): On Thursday 15th April, in the commune of Sontipap Srok Sampov Loun, Battambang province, local police forces patrolling the Cambodia-Thai border found a couple of Cambodians being taken illegally across the frontier into Thailand by a local Khmer guide.
The guide,Som Borith, had agreed to take the husband and wife into Thailand illegally in return for a payment of 200 Thai baht per person.
Currently, both workers have been released after they signed a contract with police not to attempt another illegal crossing into Thailand and to return to their village. The guide and organiser of the smuggling was sent to the office of the police commissioner of Battambang province to continue the proceedings.
