CEO News: One of the worst CEO news reports ever. RIP little girl.

Cambodia News, (Ratanakkiri): A father named Long Kosal Srey Vuy took a machete to kill his baby daughter by cutting off her head, and then tried to kill himself at his house in a village in Lumphat district, Ratanakkiri province, at 8:30 am January 3, 2022.

Lumphat District Police Inspectorate found out that the little girl who was beheaded by her father, was only just over one year old. She died instantly.

After that, the perpetrator, 35-year-old Long Kosal, a laborer, attacked himself with an ax, causing serious head injuries.
According to the authorities the man is a violent drug addict, and it took some time to overcome him and take him into custody. He was then taken to Ratanakkiri Referral Hospital.

Here is an account of the other child murder mentioned in the CPU post above; a 14 year old girl was murdered by her step-father, who attempted to rape her.

Cambodia News (Kompong Chhnang Province): On the evening of January 2, 2022, in Thlok Yol village, Taches commune, Kompong Trolach district, a 14-year-girl, Nang Sreyleap was brutally murdered by a 38-year-old stepfather, Chreung Phally, who committed suicide after the victim died.
The suspect attempted to rape the teenage girl, who fought back, but was then killed by the suspect with blows from a long knife on the neck and right hand.

This is the reason I don't believe in capital punishment. It seems too quick and easy. It's true when they say hanging is too good for some people. They need to rot in a prison where other prisoners know exactly what they've done and live every day of the rest of their lives having to pick out shards of broken glass from their food and wake up every morning in absolute terror that this might be the day the other prisoners decide to come for him.

If capital punishment were a deterrent, who do so many prisoners who have been given life try to take their own lives anyway. It's not a punishment. Being forced to live with the consequences of your crime is.

Tragic, and in both cases unnecessary murders of two innocents by the people whom were in the position of the care and welfare to those children.
It is surprising that there is no indication of any prior problems with the two cases.

According to the KT article here, the man was trying to kill his wife, but when she escaped, he killed their infant daughter.

The child was identified as Long Sreyvouch and the mother as Mean Mom, 33.

Maj Theng said the suspect and his wife had been working as cashew workers at the plantation since 2020.

According to Mom, he added the suspect was high on drugs when he got into an argument with her and blamed her for his drug addiction.

During the heated argument, he said, the suspect took out a machete and chased after his wife with the intention of killing her but she managed to escape into the cashew plantation.

Maj Theng added the suspect then returned to his cottage where he cut the daughter’s neck, which led to her head falling from her body.

“The suspect did not flee from the scene of the crime but rather waited until the police arrived and subsequently put up a fight with them resulting in one of the policemen sustaining injuries,” he said.
