Beyond believe! They are funny! The pictures on the news and Facebook are different. Still odd to me when I see their pictures.
BTW I wonder why he asks for money for his family?

Can we have those two pictures on only in Cambodia thread. It is funny. I wonder if he was really happy having a chance to take picture with westerner no matter if they are good people or criminal.
It it was Cambodian, they would stripped him off and left him only his underwear and maybe had him held the Camera.

Here is a post about Brett Hastie from one of his Facebook friends, also from New Zealand.
Yeah Iv heard some info .. So he's been arrested and is being questioned. It's pretty normal over there to be arrested and not charged but questioned until they figure out what's going on . He has a lawyer and a couple of other people trying to sort it out . It's not a good idea to visit him yet as to many
foreigners visiting could make it difficult for him . By the sounds of it he's been conned by the Aussie guy into thinking that the Aussie guy is some undercover something a rather . And had Hastie doing some work for him . All the info iv had is really vague . But it is coming from someone we know in Cambodia.fingers crossed that they figure out that he's been duped and they let him go .. It could take a while tho .
LoL, could Brett really be so naive to think that he was working with an "undercover" agent or something?

Australia seeks extradition of kidnapping suspect
Australian authorities are looking into the possible extradition of a 68-year-old man, arrested recently in Siem Reap, who is wanted for alleged kidnapping and torture in Queensland in 2007.
Fugitive Guido James Eglitis was arrested on October 23 along with New Zealand national Brett Michael Hastie, 44, for the alleged September 29 robbery and assault of British man David Scotcher, who has reportedly fled the country in fear for his life.
Queensland privacy laws forbid police from naming subjects of arrest warrants, but in an email yesterday, police there confirmed they are “making enquiries in relation to the possible extradition of a 68-year-old man in relation to a deprivation of liberty investigation from the South Brisbane area in 2007”.
Eglitis was charged in 2007 by a Brisbane court together with an accomplice over the abduction of a 58-year-old businessman in the city’s south.
According to media reports, Eglitis impersonated an Australian Federal Police officer during the kidnapping, which saw the victim snatched from a carpark, thrown into a van and later tied to a chair and detained.
The man eventually escaped. Though charged with kidnapping, Eglitis appears to have fled the country while on bail.
Major General Uk Hai Sela, investigations chief at the Ministry of Interior’s Immigration Department, said he had yet to receive any extradition requests in regard to Eglitis, which, he said, would go through his office.
