CNRP Activist Prepares to Fight Against Islamic State (ISIS)
Ha! I think the US should go ahead and send them. They would chicken out before they even left.
CNRP Activist Offers to Fight Against Islamic State
A former lawmaker candidate from the opposition CNRP announced Tuesday that he is now leading a platoon of amateur soldiers and will next week ask the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh to deploy the group in the war against the Islamic State group.
The U.S. has for four months been waging an aerial campaign against the terrorist group, which is also known as ISIS and has taken control of large swaths of territory in Syria and Iraq.
Soung Sophorn, 28, a longtime opposition youth leader who stood as the CNRP’s lawmaker candidate in Pailin province in last year’s national election, said he is now at the head of a group of 50 youth who wish to join the war in the Middle East.
“We are Cambodian youth and we want to show our will and concern on international issues,” he said.
“The reason we want to join with the U.S. to fight against the jihadist ISIS is because the extremist jihad group will start World War III and destroy people’s health by creating an Ebola biological weapon.”
The amateur soldiers will deliver a petition to the U.S. Embassy on Tuesday asking to join the fight, Mr. Sophorn said. The next day they will deliver a letter to the U.N. in support of global action against I.S.
On Thursday, they will notify the Cambodian government of their plan to fight alongside the U.S., which has, in fact, not committed any ground troops to fight I.S.
Mr. Sophorn said he hoped the U.S. would accept his team’s offer so that he could later use his experience in the Middle East to wage war against Vietnam, which he accuses of taking Cambodian land.
“I’m not racist against the Vietnamese but the Vietnamese are violating Cambodian land at Koh Tral,” Mr. Sophorn said, using the Khmer language term for the Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc.
“We want to show that we will fight back against those extremist Vietnamese,” he said.
One of Mr. Sophorn’s amateur soldiers, Hang Sisovat, 32, said he was under the impression the U.N. was involved in the fight against I.S. and was glad to help out.
“I’ve never been trained in military exercises but I want to show the heart of the Khmer youth and our will to fight ISIS,” Mr. Sisovat said.
“The U.N. used to help Cambodia in 1993 so the Khmer have to help the U.N. fight against ISIS.....

Re: CNRP Activist Prepares to Fight Against Islamic State (I
The CNRP, after having stood their ground so long before finally joining the govt, has lost the support of many Cambodians, who expected more from them. I never expected much from Rainsey, but I held out hope for rank and file and other leadership-especially Mu Sochua. And now they volunteer to fight terrorism rather than fight the local political war. I hate to say it, but there was clearly a sell-out along the path to political recognition. Yeah, I wanted to believe them and yeah I was naive to hold out any hope for Cambodian politics. This latest grandstand play for patriotism is pathetically transparent racism and a betrayal to those Cambodians who voted for them.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

No, I am a well educated former English teacher who has lived rurally in Cambodia with my wife and kids for over 12 years and a few more years in PP previously. I speak fluent Cambodian and get along well with the villagers, thus I knew their concerns and hopes and supported their desire and courage to implement change. I was driven also by a desire for a new government in the hope that my children would inherit a country with a future. Since I am old, I have no future, but they deserve one.Are you a hippy....

If you would have read my post with the same dedication that you show in insulting me, you would know that I don't. My faith is Mu Sochua is not however ill-founded. Rainsey's racist anti-yuon rhetoric is offensive to me. The problems in Cambodia do not come from Hanoi, they come from Phnom Penh.
"Glib" is certainly an inappropriate adjective to apply to the bulk of my posts. There are moments when I choose to be so, but they are clear and quite separate from my serious posts. You claim to be an agricultural expert, but you know next to nothing about farming and worse, you are at best patronizing and at worst condescending toward the Cambodian peasant, who is not stupid, but merely uneducated and trapped in a cycle of poverty that you cannot understand. It is because of foreigners like you that I am happy I chose to live with Cambodians who are tolerant, resilient, and who value loving life more than hating their neighbors. So, Sparky, if you have nothing constructive to say. get the fuck off my tits. At least stop being jealous of someone who had the courage to do what you could not.
Oh and try to write sentences that contain complete thoughts instead of ending partially complete ones that end in ...

Speechless! Obviously, they would do more harms do than. I don't think the US and its allies are that stupid to have untrained foreign men on the ground jeopardizing the lives of their soldiers and mission.
Makes me cringe!

Glib; speaking or spoken easily and confidently but not sincerely. Perhaps our resident Captain Boycott( he was in land management) could explain how believing a politician makes you this. The politician on the other hand could indeed be charged with the offense.badneighour wrote:taabarang wrote: I was naive .

@taabarang putting your faith in a dedicated self publicist like Mu Sochea was always going to result in disappointment.

badneighbor grunted the following monosyllablic lies, "...never posted negative comments about Cambodians...
never insulted you ..." I have a whole inbox full of them and I would gladly post them to show you for the liar you are.
He also proffered the following advice, "do you teach your children to swear ....try to get your point across without using such language.."
Yes, I do teach them to respond with vehemence when logic and compassion fail and some shitheel is trying to step on you. That is in English of course; they learn Cambodian swear words at school.
And also the following, "and sometimes you maybe should try to shorten your post....which ramble on too much...
Actually, they are logically constructed. My advice to you is to try to develop
an adult attention span.

I'm kind of surprised the newspaper would actually print such stupidity.cambodiadaily wrote: “The reason we want to join with the U.S. to fight against the jihadist ISIS is because the extremist jihad group will start World War III and destroy people’s health by creating an Ebola biological weapon.”

Mr. Sophorn said he hoped the U.S. would accept his team’s offer so that he could later use his experience in the Middle East to wage war against Vietnam, which he accuses of taking Cambodian land.
