Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: At 6 pm, on July 24, 2020 at the point of the old Chroy Changva bridge in Srah Chak commune, Daun Penh district, Phnom Penh, a woman, 24-year-old N.S. from Battambang province, tried to kill herself by jumping from the bridge.

A fisherman who was below the Chroy Changva bridge said that as he went down to scatter rice for his ducks to eat on the riverbank, he saw the victim walking up and down the bridge, and then suddenly the woman jumped off the bridge into the river. He then took out his boat to rescue her, and succeeded in getting the woman into his boat and on to dry land.

The fisherman called the authorities, who called an ambulance to take the woman to Calmette Hospital for treatment.

It is disturbing that this woman's death has been reported like this in Khmer media. Cambodians are generally very sentimental, and romancing acts of suicide can encourage others. It appears that someone (the car driver) assisted this suicide, and they should be found and shamed. It is not the act of a good friend to participate in a bizarre death ritual. If you are a good friend then you will call someone for help.
Cambodia has a terrible suicide record. general-chatter/world-suicide-preventio ... 22956.html

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On September 11, at 3 am, a woman committed suicide by jumping from the bridge and left a bunch of flowers and a pair of shoes for her family on Chroy Changvar bridge, Sangkat Sras Chok, Khan Don Penh, Phnom Penh.

Before the incident, the local people saw a beautiful woman get out of a car carrying a bunch of flowers and a bag. Then, the car drove forward, leaving her on the bridge alone. After that, the victim took off her shoes and put down the flowers. Then, she jumped from the bridge. Immediately the local people at the scene reported the act to the police, but the woman was gone.

The police are waiting for the victim's family to identify the woman. Very sad. RIP.

What the fuck... Yeah, they should hunt down the person in the car and charge them as an accessory to murder or something. That's more than assisted suicide.

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On January 5, 2021, at 1 am, a woman, who got cheated on by her girlfriend and then had her phone stolen, tried to kill herself by jumping from Chroy Changvar bridge, Sangkat Sras Chok, Phnom Penh.

The broken hearted woman said that she was a lesbian in a relationship, and the reason she wanted to kill herself was because she caught her girlfriend cheating on her with a man at a house in the Soriya market area.
After finding out that her girlfriend was unfaithful to her, she went out alone and was accosted by an unidentified man who came to talk to her, before he stole her phone, and ran away with it.

The woman said she was so sad and alone after getting dumped by her girlfriend, and she couldn't call her family, so she decided to jump from Chroy Changvar bridge to end her life.
Fortunately, some people stopped her on the bridge and called the police to come and help her. The police sent the young woman to the police station for education and contacted her family to take her home.

It's sad that people get into the kind of situation were they wish to end everything.
Bridge needs a fence to start with.
Always "hope" but never "expect".
