I'm not so sure about those statistics. You see - where I'm from, we are very aggressive all the time. We don't take much shit and we are always ready to box someone in the head. However, we usually just punch the guy till he's on the ground. I'm just joking, because that would rarely happen, but I'm trying to explain people's general attitude while getting around town. It's aggressive. You don't smile at anyone you don't know.
Either way you had about a 99% chance of survival, because most attacks are not aimed at actually killing anyone. I've noticed that Cambodians are very polite and non-aggressive most of the time. They have a tipping point though, and then things get sort of colorful...

So I'd say:
Attacked by Barang - 78% likelihood of survival. Unless they are in Sihanoukville. Then they have about 25%.
Attacked by Khmer - 78% likelihood of failure. There's a lot more Khmers than Barangs around. Don't mess with the best.
