Security preparations are underway for a visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is scheduled to arrive in Cambodia next month.

A Chinese delegation, including China’s deputy minister of public security, Wang Xiaohong, visited Phnom Penh earlier this week. The group met with high-ranking members of the government and the security services, including Interior Minister Sar Kheng, National Police Commissioner Neth Savoeun, and the capital’s police chief Chuon Sovann.

Cambodia’s state press agency noted that next month’s visit, the date of which has not been released, would be Jinping’s second, following a trip in 2009 when he was vice-president...

PHNOM PENH, Oct. 12 (FN) -- Cambodian politicians and scholars applauded Chinese President Xi Jinping's signed article published in a leading Cambodian newspaper on Wednesday, saying that the article reflects Xi's sincere view of Cambodia as a true friend of China.

Xi's article titled "China and Cambodia: Good Neighbors and Trusted Friends" was published in the Rasmei Kampuchea Daily Newspaper, Cambodia's largest Khmer-language newspaper, on Wednesday, a day ahead of his first state visit to Cambodia.

According to the article, Xi highly values China-Cambodia friendly exchanges, which date back to more than a millennium until the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1958. He said over the past 58 years, successive leaders of both countries have maintained close interactions and developed a close bond of friendship...

If I didn't have my kids with me I would be there in a heartbeat. They are saying this will be worse than when Obama came.

Getting word in now that the police are waiting for the order to close Norodom, my guess is they will be using this route from the airport to the palace.

Try and avoid the area at all costs, as the traffic will block up on Monivong and in BKK1 with people no longer allowed to access Norodom.
