Chinese Monk Arrested for Refusing to Accept Small Donation

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

About time the locals woke up to this thieving bunch. I guess they're too use to seeing weirdos in the city to do anything about it, so it took some provincials to question the authenticity of this guy.

That should have probably gone in a spoiler. A little too sexy.

I must have seen that guy at least 100 times along the river or the side streets. I see them hitting on foreigners but also have seen Khmer giving them dough too, as recently as last night.

I dunno, but sponging of Khmer seems low to me.

I'd love to see the last of them and the damn Filipino scammers.

What Could Be the Legal Action for the Chinese Monk?

Sihanoukville: According to Koh Santepheap Daily New, around 08:40 pm on 20 April 2016, the immigration police arrested a Chinese monk who was collecting alms along Ocheteal Beach. He was bothering both local and international visitors and they reported about him to the local authority. He was causing anarchy in the public.

The Chinese monk named Li Sihu. His visa is valid until 22 July 2016. He was sent to department of immigration for further legal action.
