Re: Chinese Busted Selling Fake Gold to Khmer Granny in Kampot
The "victim" outsmarted the crooks.
https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50617001/t ... fake-gold/Col Rithy said that at about 11.30am on Saturday, the three allegedly attempted to sell 62 pieces of counterfeit gold for $50,000 to 78-year-old Taing Ngim, a villager from Kampot city.
According to Col Rithy, Ms Ngim and her children suspected that the gold items were fake during negotiation.
Ms Ngim then stalled the negotiation process in order to keep the three Chinese nationals at her shop, as one of her children reported the incident to military police.
After receiving the complaint, police moved to arrest the three Chinese nationals, who were still at Ms Ngim’s home in Kampong Bay commune.
