I know of several Vietnamese that were deported, and the week after they were back drinking coffee next door again.

Honest question - would it really be that difficult to just walk back into the country from Vietnam?

Honest answer - no.
Happens all the time, most of the people I've seen that do so aren't the sex worker type, but are the 40-50 year old Vietnamese who never had paperwork post Vietnam war and couldn't be arsed to try and get official documents together, so they just walk over and do basic contractor work and then drink coffee when they have some spare change.
