Cambodia, China kick off joint military exercise
13 Mar 2019
PHNOM PENH: Cambodia and China on Wednesday began a 13-day joint military exercise in southern Cambodia involving more than 600 military personnel from both sides.

The Golden Dragon military exercise, held at Techo Sen Chumkiri military institute in Kampot province, aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries' armed forces in combating terrorism, maintaining stability and assisting in disaster relief.

The exercise involves 252 Chinese soldiers and 382 Cambodian soldiers as well as 2,200 other personnel including paramedics, according to Cambodian Defence Ministry spokesman Chhum Socheat.

It is the third such exercise held between China and Cambodia since the first in 2016.

For some reason, the military exercises finished two days earlier than scheduled.

China and Cambodia yesterday ended their largest-ever joint military exercise “Golden Dragon 2019” held in Kampot province’s Chum Kiri district after more than 10 days of live fire.

Commanders from both countries made a commitment to resist any threat from outsiders. The exercises began on March 13 with a closing ceremony planned for tomorrow, but the date was changed to yesterday.

I trust the RCAF to defend Cambodia against all threats, both foreign and domestic..... provided it’s not raining and there’s no holidays to celebrate.

The Khmer local troops look like they playing at war. The troops the PRC sent look like they are ready to go to war.

Just like when the PRC navy visited.
