Child's Dead Body Found on the Road After Hit and Run

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Sure, every time I hear of a fatal accident anywhere in the world I blame the whole nation.
I have travelled the world pretty much.i have never read about so many people fleeing after accidents in any other countries i have been. So yes,i stick by my initial assessment.
But you are assuming that Cambodian drivers flee because they are guilty. Mostly, they run because they are afraid of being beaten up, even if they didn't cause the accident. They may even run to the police station.
This syndrome of running away from accidents is really bad in Cambodia, but IMO it comes from the general lack of trust in a corrupt justice system, rather than some genetic moral failure in Cambodian people.
If you just keep getting another spin of the wheel then dying isn't such a big deal. Also, children are considered replaceable. Especially female children.

I agree John but when the ordinary people consistently see no justice... well what would you expect, Cambodia often makes me think of Feudal England in the middle ages.

Poor little darling :(

I’ve seen truck drivers who are so short and / or young they can’t see out the truck properly.

What a sad situation, RIP little poppet.
Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.

It is in many ways a feudal system.

yes John and I honestly think that many wealthy Khmers think when something like this happens that they don't get it and their thinking is but it was only a peaseant, one of millions and yet I am wealthy and connected person, I don't understand the outrage, middle ages shit.
