CCF's Scott Neeson opens "Rice Academy"
The Rice Academy of the Cambodian Children’s Fund (CCF), located in Russey village, Sangkat Stung Meanchey, Phnom Penh, was inaugurated on Sept. 17 to officially provide education to poor and street children.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Cambodian Minister of Education, Youth and Sports H.E. Hang Chuon Naron and Senior Minister and Minister of Commerce H.E. Sun Chanthol.
The construction of the Rice Academy was funded by Mr. John and Cammie Rice, said Mr. Scott Neeson, Executive Director of CCF, adding that Mr. John Rice is Vice Chairman of GE (General Electric).
H.E. Hang Chuon Naron expressed his support and appreciation to CCF for its contribution to the enhancement of Cambodia’s educational and economic sectors through investment in education.
According to CCF’s Facebook page, the Rice Academy is more than a school; it serves as a community hub to everyone in the area by providing a kindergarten, washrooms, medical access, a nutritional food program and fresh water.

PM Meets Government’s Expat Advisor

In the meeting taking place yesterday at the Peace Palace here in Phnom Penh, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HE advised Mr. John G. Rice to look more into broadening the knowledge and skill among Cambodian youth so as to further promote their potential, especially in young entrepreneurship.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister encouraged Mr. John G. Rice to work with members of the Royal Government of Cambodia, including Senior Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth, and Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Sun Chanthol.
He also appreciated initiatives of the government's advisor such as exchange visits between Cambodia and the United States of America.
From his side, Mr. John G. Rice expressed his appreciation with his role as the Advisor to the Royal Government of Cambodia, and thanked Samdech Techo Prime Minister for his time and advice.
Mr. John G. Rice used to be a vice chairman of General Electric, an American multinational conglomerate considered as a world leader in power generation and water technologies for utilities, independent power producers and industrial applications.
He became an Advisor to the Royal Government of Cambodia in early 2018, the role he hopes to contribute to further development of Cambodia under the leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HE.
