Careless Truck Driver Hits School Bus, Injuring 21 Students

Kandal province, Cambodia News: On December 17, 2019, between Kilometer 27-28 in Toul Ampil village, Ponhea Leu commune, Ponhea Leu district, Kandal province, there was a traffic accident between a truck and a school bus (ELT).

The accident injured 21 people (15 girls and 6 boys), including 5 serious injuries, along with 16 minor injuries. All the students were extremely shocked. The victims, who were all aged between 13 and 17 years old, were assisted by locals at the accident scene before being taken to Ponhea Leu Referral Hospital and Prak Anon Clinic. All 21 children are from Tuol Ampil village, Kandal province.

According to witnesses at the scene, at the time of the crash, the driver of the HYUNDAI truck trailer, 28-year-old Oun Phear, was driving very fast when his vehicle slammed into the back of the school bus.
