Canadian tourist found dead in Harmony Hotel room, Phnom Penh

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Dan was not a drug user so something is seriously wrong here. Dan was a super fit and strong guy. He was a weight lifter and all around athlete. He was a very good rugby player. He did not take hard drugs, let alone any drugs beyond alcohol and few cigarettes when he was drunk.

I hope there is a thorough investigation into this whole matter. Like any Western guy, Dan liked the Asian ladies but he had pulled away from that whole scene and had a girlfriend. So this whole thing is tragic and does not make sense.

Please be respectful. Dan was a vibrant, talented, respectful, and very likable person wherever he went. He was extremely popular in his social circles.

Let's hope the Cambodian police investigate what really happened and do not just chalk it up as another expat guy dying in Asia.

They won't investigate it I'm afraid.

Why the weird passport photo then?
Melvin Udall: Never, never, interrupt me, okay?

Not if there's a fire, not even if you hear the sound of a thud from my home and one week later there's a smell coming from there that can only be a decaying human body and you have to hold a hanky to your face because the stench is so thick that you think you're going to faint.

Even then, don't come knocking...Not for ANY reason.

Well think about it! If the drug taker was in the Philippines. The bullet would kill you, before the substance.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Maybe it was just a bad photo for the passport. Trust me, Dan was not a druggy. He did not take drugs. He was a PE teacher and an athlete. Check his Facebook and look at his lifestyle.

There is really tragic and something is seriously wrong. Non of it adds up.

It's kind of weird that several foreigners have died of drug overdoses at the same hotel.

That's not gonna happen. The Cambodian police investigation is over. Heart attack from drug overdose. Case closed.

If the family or anyone else wants it investigated further, they need to organise something.

Yes, and watch that investigation happen. His parents will not accept this so expect a lot of noise. Dan was a very popular and healthy person. He is the last guy who would shoot up morphine or mess with it in any form.

There is foul play here.

They might want to have a look at what happened with the investigation into the death of the Canadian Dave Walker in Cambodia.

indeed.
family members have my sincere sympathy and members would do well to respect them and the deceased.
however, discussion is warranted on the subject given the seemingly common unusual deaths of healthy young men in PP and SV who reportedly have no history of drug use.
it is not unknown for people to be drugged in order to rob them.
sharing the information may lead to an ID of the perps or at least serve as a warning to visitors to exercise caution.
