Canadian Tourist David James Anthony Dies of Drug Overdose

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Where I am, "getting stoned" this weekend is NOT something you look forward to.

David James Anthony Obituary:

March 17, 1977 – January 25, 2015

David James Anthony passed away unexpectedly in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Cherished and loved son of Ted and Judy, dear brother of Stephen, brother-in-law of Aska and special uncle to Abby of Tokyo, Japan. Beloved grandson of Eleanor Verdone. David will be missed greatly by his loving girlfriend Fa Channarong of Chaiyaphum, Thailand. He leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss his beautiful smile and soft-spoken ways. He impacted the lives of so many people here and abroad.

Dave had a natural athletic ability and enjoyed hockey, baseball, tennis and most importantly, golf.

David’s family will welcome friends and family to Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Boulevard on Sunday, February 1st from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A celebration of our son’s life will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 2nd at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, treat a friend to a round of golf. Dave would like that.

perhaps "assumed room temperature" would be less confusing. I suspect they hauled him outside to see it folks on that street knew him somehow or had seen him coming and going with any known druggie types. Lots easier than parading the whole street thru the room. VERY odd he's got a Thai "gf" but did not know enough to be careful of the local stuff ? Ya know, people DO die young from many things, natural causes. They also get their ticket punched prematurely by others. Sad case, but then some of you are happy the "bottom feeders" are taking themselves out I suspect.
