Canadian Francis Graham Arrested in Sihanoukville, NO VISA

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

TheGrinchSR wrote:It's fair enough. Given that a visa here is next to nothing to obtain and zero hassle to obtain - there's no real excuse for not having one. I get it in places where visas are huge expense... but less than $300 a year? It's the only tax most foreigners will ever pay. It's not unreasonable to pay it.
It's even funny that some people regard it as being optional

Driving down the main street in Snookyville the other day I was passed by a very high end SUV with Immigration Dept. on the side. I wonder who bought that for them? Also what country bought the high tech vehicle testing building/equipment I've seen in PP and Snookyville?

It seems the Sihanoukville cops are being pretty aggressive now in arresting overstayers.

Twas a lovely visit to Phnom Penh. Not thrilled about having my passport posted on your website, however. Leaves glaring questions regarding journalistic integrity, imo. FWIW, my passport was stolen, which made renewing my visa or leaving very difficult. Kudos to the Australian Embassy for their assistance. The Police in Sihanoukville said that I had a "woman problem". Personally, I think I had "one or two too many women" problems. About $1,800usd later, I was told to drop by anytime, after 6 months had passed.

Don't worry, we are thoughtful enough to blur out the info that could be used for fraud, etc.

Did you make any attempt to replace it BEFORE you were arrested?

The passport was issued July 2014... the same one that you're not happy about being on this page... is that because the story about it being stolen is well... bunkum?

Just wrote an extensive response, then was told that I hadn't logged in? Anyway, Jan/29 my moneybelt w/all ID & over $300usd was removed from my pocket while at a bar in Otres #1. Went to different police stations at various times for police report, which nobody seemed to want to do. Had x-wife fly to Cambodia with passport application docs & new bank card, in June/14. Received new passport from Aus embassy in PP in Aug/14. Each month had money, food, other items mysteriously disappear, despite a change in residence & replacing 7 or 8 padlocks. Police lived next to me, sporadically for the 7 months I lived at Otres, continuously for the 8 months I lived in town. Nobody seemed to notice my home being entered. I have 2 pensions, am not a millionaire, nor, destitute. Overall, an experience not to be repeated. The Aus Embassy Rep said, "Hell hath no fury like a Filipina." I'm, currently, visiting my x-wife in her native Philippines. We'll see.

The passport posted here is Canadian, what did the Australian Embassy have to do with anything?
