I don't really understand how prison is so expensive for the state. It's basically people confined to their rooms and fed shit food.

This is why I continuously say, time and time again, the death penalty is too good for them. If people are prepared to take their own lives (in this case) by stabbing themselves repeatedly in the abdomen, what does that say about the horrors that await them? If you really want these evil bastards to pay for their crime, why let them off the hook by ending their lives early for them? It's a cop out. An easy way out for them. It's what they want. What they need is to spend every waking mement terrified for their lives. Wondering if today's the day. Will their food have glass in it? Will the officers turn a blind eye while they're in the presence of someone who's been offered a bag of tabacco for their death? Death is too easy for some.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.

Police said the man tried to kill himself upon arrest, stabbing himself in the abdomen and cutting his wrists with a pocketknife
too bad he failed.
