43 Cambodians Convicted of Crimes in the USA & Deported to Cambodia Arrive Today
Re: 43 Cambodians Convicted of Crimes in the USA & Deported to Cambodia Arrive Today
I was involved in a project here a few years ago. Contacted.3 of these guys to ask if they were interested. Without hesitation all of them separately said "How much what's in it for me?" Before I even had a chance to explain anything about the project.
Never had such a consistent response before on that project or.others since from other Khmers or Barangs. So don't know what if anything it says about these deported guys other than how mercenary they are and what their motivation is. Don't.matter artistic or.creative they may portray themselves to the hangers on who feel some sort of thrill by being associated.with inked up bros from the hood.

Seems like a reasonable question to me and certainly within the context of Khmer culture.

Please don't get me wrong, although I am strongly against these deportations, I surely can believe these people will in mayority not be the nicest people. Propably not so strange after what kind of life they had till now. That is another reason why I am against this deportations. The USA has a problem with these people and dumps the problem now in the KOW. They (USA) created the problem, so they should try to fix it or deal with it.

They don't know any other way to fix it; it's too late to build a wall.

How mercenary they are? They just wanted to know how much they would get paid. Did you expect them to agree to your project and accept whatever you gave them if anything at the end?

Again, you haven't ever interacted with them in the USA when they were doing gang stuff, so you have NO idea what you are talking about. You get to see their good side when they are back in their home country.james1234 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 06, 2018 3:29 pm First and for all:
Gangs are a big problem, whether they are Cambodian, Negros, Irish, Maroc, Turk or what ever. It is a phenomena that has developed in decades and I don't have the solution for that. It must be a nightmare to live in a neighborhood dominated by gangs. Probably if the US did spend the same amount of money on developing the ghetto's and fighting the gangs as on the Gulf war, this problem might have been less. I am not a pacifist and was happy when Saddam was put out of power but just saying that the ghetto's in the USA aren't priority as much as they should be!
And about the comparison with Hitler:
I am not comparing Trump with Hitler, although I think they have similar bad ideas. I was referring to tonetone420 his quote:and deportation is OK! No race or nationality is superior to another! You can like them or not, some or more developed than others, some have better values than others, but a human being is a human being! Hitlers whole ideology was based on racism and that was my comparison! Trump has similar ideas about Mexicans, Porto Ricons and Arabs! They are worthless animals
So If a white gang boy have served his time in prison, he needs to be treated the same as a Cambodian gang member coming out of prison.
So if a Cambodia son of a refugee is deported to a country where he never has been, doesn't speak the language and without any resources that is for me a violation of human rights, where the USA like to teach others very much! O and I am a USA fan, just don't agree with this deportations! They are wrong, wrong for the person, wrong for the USA and very wrong for Cambodia.

I am not comparing Trump with Hitler, he says, immediately doing so again after spending several posts comparing the two. Especially outstanding that he spent the rest of his post drawing more comparisons between the two. I can't even be bothered to dig further into the stupid than that.

question
No, re-read what I said.
Would you go to a job interview and say straight away what's the salary without listening to a word about what the job was about or without asking questions yourself about it to seen if it was something you could do or had an interest in?
Asking off the bat "what's the pay?" Or a variation on that is what these 3 guys all did. I've interviewed lots of people for jobs in this country and these 3 were the only ones to come out with such a blatant question. Apart from anything else at the bare minimum it was rude. But maybe you think that's acceptable? The pay would have been decent for what it's worth.

In an interview with Koh Santepheap, Tan Sonnich, executive director of the Unpaid Khmer Citizen Support Organization, located in Thiruvanet Sok, Phnom Penh, April 6, 2018, said that 22 Cambodians sent back to Cambodia by the US had been taken in by relatives, but that 22 people were still homeless and had no relatives in Cambodia. 16 women are among the deportees.
