5 Cambodian Police Officers VS 1 Angry Motorist with No Helmet in Koh Kong

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Koh Kong, Cambodia: A video (presumably shot by police) has emerged, showing a man being pulled over by traffic police not wearing a helmet, resulting in an altercation.

He gets off his motorbike and has quite a lengthy discussion with 2 officers. He seems to get pretty agitated about 3 minutes into the video before trying to get back on his motorbike.

Police prevent him from getting on his motorbike, and that's when the altercation begins, with one officer ripping him away from his bike.

Then 5 officers wrestle him to the ground and detain him.

It would have been 7 officers, but 2 were busy on their phones taking pictures and video of the event.

Good. Maybe next time he will wear a helmet.

Yeah, I think the police acted appropriately. Maybe they were asking for a crazy amount of Riel.

I think they did a good job. Didn't even have to use a tazer gun or mace/pepper spray.

Once they pull you in, you have no choice than to cough up the dough. I guess he wasn't fast enough to get around them, or turn. Or perhaps it might have been a status trip, or he got angry about the higher fines handed out.

Hmmm... I have some bad experience too,but the last time we were the victim. Police accused us didn't put safe belt, but we did. We didn't drink alcohol and only one guy in the car. They took pictures of our car's number plate, just because they accused us that we didn't put the belt. We weren't afraid even they carried gun and stood near us because we weren't wrong. While we were talking with police , another car hit our car, but the police didn't stop him and told us they didn't stop that car because we ( owner) not do it. Even they saw what happened to us but they pretended it wasn't their task. It was a bad night!

Yep. I've been pulled over. Stopped completely. My friend even jumped off.

They wanted $20 I laughed, yelled some 4-letter words and bolted. I did get hit in the face a few times as I flew. Thank God I was wearing a helmet.

They asked my friend to pay, she said NO and walked 2 blocks to jump back on my moto.

I guess that's OK if you are a tourist you can get away with a lot, as they know you are supporting the local economy as a hotel guest. But in the long run, if you were living here, you'd probably piss them off, if they'd stop you all the time and you never gave them any tea money, even though you were breaking the traffic law.
