We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Recalling the long standing traditional relations between the two countries based on the bedrock of Theravada Buddhism, the two Ambassadors exchanged greetings on the occasion. In the prevailing health crisis, the meeting was seen as a possible alternative to demonstrate the continued interest and importance placed on furthering the bilateral relations of the two countries. It was agreed to look for the earliest occasion to operationalize the Memoranda of Understanding already agreed upon between the two Foreign Ministries and the respective Chambers of Commerce.

The two Ambassadors also exchanged views on opportunities to work together to promote Buddhist trail tourism and trade between the two countries.

“Accountability and Transparency”

?

Sweden might be disappointed with the results after spending a few million on this program.

Of course, Cambodia night just play the victim card, blaming it all on the Khmer Rouge, and of course guilting the west for allowing the Khmer Rouge to happen.

Devyani Khobragade Appointed India’s next Ambassador to Cambodia

Indian Foreign Service officer Devyani Uttam Khobragade has been appointed as India’s next ambassador to Cambodia, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday.

Ms Khobragade, a 1999-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, is currently serving as a joint secretary in the ministry at its headquarters in Delhi.
“She is expected to take up the assignment shortly,” the MEA said in a release.

In her nearly 21-year career, Ms Khobragade has served in Indian missions in Berlin, Islamabad, Rome and New York.

She had hit the headlines in 2013 as action against her by the authorities in New York on charges of underpaying her Indian maid had snowballed into a major row between the two countries.
She then was serving as India’s deputy consul general in New York.

Cambodia, Cuba expand cooperation
Phnom Penh, Oct 15 (Prensa Latina) Cambodia and Cuba are interested in exploring new cooperation areas such as agriculture, environment and rural development, the island's Ambassador to this country, Liurka Rodriguez, said on Thursday.

During a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Yim Chhay Ly, we agreed that these 60 years of diplomatic relations paved the way to deepen bilateral collaboration in medicine, education, sports and expand them to areas such as those mentioned, the diplomat told Prensa Latina.

The senior Cambodian leader congratulated Cuba for being recently elected as a member of the UN Human Rights Council and pointed out that it achieves commendable results in this field, among them support the development of other nations in health, Rodriguez said.

Yim Chhay Ly specially recalled the presence in Cambodia of the Cuban medical brigades -the ambassador said- and their contributions to improve this country's health indicators in difficult times.

For our part, we expressed gratitude for Phnom Penh's consistent support to the UN resolutions that call to put an end to the US blockade, Rodriguez said.
