Re: Cambodia Wildlife Is Going to Extinct
Is it a sloth thing that hangs off trees ? Doesn't look like monkey. More like a possum ? It has long legs though. More like a dog. ???bolueeleh wrote: ↑Sat Mar 24, 2018 1:12 pmyum yum, looks like a large ratAnchor Moy wrote: ↑Sat Mar 24, 2018 10:37 amTo be fair, rabbits and pigs are not endangered species. Some deer are, and some are not. I think the indigenous tribes have the right to hunt certain wildlife for themselves and their families, but not to sell it. Obviously, this law is not followed to the letter. And yeah, over 100kgs of meat is not just a side business.
Yikes, what is this ?

Following a two-week investigation into suspected wildlife traders, a team from the environmental NGO raided two suspects' homes in Kampong Speu province, in which one dead and three live pangolins were seized along with other wildlife.
“The wildlife traffickers, a husband and wife team, were apprehended, jailed, and fined for trading Critically Endangered pangolins,” the group wrote in their press release.
The live pangolins were released the same night they were captured.
“Every rescue and release of Sunda pangolins is vital for the species’ survival because they are the most trafficked mammals in the world and are on the brink of extinction,” they wrote.

Hunter arrested red-handed with shot banteng (wild ox).
March 26, 2018
- A hunter in Kampong Speu province has been jailed after shooting dead a rare banteng on Thursday in the Chamrak Community Forest in Thpong district’s Prambey Mum commune.
Deputy district police chief Kim Yon said that following the sound of the gunshot on Thursday, environment officers promptly patrolled the area.
“When we arrived, he had already cut the animal into pieces and loaded it onto his truck. He did not flee because his truck was right there in the Chamrak Community Forest,” Mr Yon added.
He said the banteng died from multiple AK-47 rifle wounds.
Mr Yon added that the hunter, So Sina, 38, was immediately sent to the provincial environment department and later onto the provincial court on Friday.
A provincial police report said that the banteng weighed 220 kilos and was a rare animal.

As john bingham observed, they are scared of the forest and scared of animals: no reason for them to protect their country
