Heck, Luigi’s was full of Khmer high school kids and university types. Spoke perfect English with a proper American accent. Flipped back and forth between speaking English and Khmer amongst themselves. Food starts around $10 and goes up. Must have lots of rich mommies and daddies giving them expensive educations and pocket money.

yeh, and its hard to find coffee places that also sell proper desserts like cake. I like Brown, and a Cappuccino and a nice piece of cheesecake (which is small) is prob at least 20% more than at 'home' Also full of Khmer.

Ubon ( 60 km away ) has the department stores and airport. I can be in BKK 2 hours after leaving my house and if I have the foresight to book three weeks in advance, I can fly for $30.

Isn’t the correct comparison between Bangkok with PP. If you are comparing a regional town in Thailand then you should probably compare it with Siem Reap or Battambang. Comparing a regional town with the most expensive place in Cambodia doesn’t make much sense to me.

If you compare a provincial town in Cambodia with PP then you’ll probably find that many things (rent, food etc.) are cheaper.

Edit: just read the article again... a bottle of sparkling wine for $25?! You can have a bottle of great Prosecco for $12 in every market in Cambodia, so their figures are probably greatly (bigly) inflated.

the only things i find cheaper in Cambodia over Thailand is Drinking alcohol,( beer, spirits, wine), smoking cigs, some western food items in the supermarkets and some Barang food in cheaper restaurants

i rarely pay more than $2-3 for a bottle of San Miguel light ($3.50-4 in PP) anywhere here

For the most part, when you are comparing beer prices you would do it with domestic beer prices, not imports. Also, Beer Economics is a real thing when done properly and not done by some guy sitting in a gogo bar at 1 am. I can get Tiger draft in PP for....$1...a pint! Any time of day, wow!!

Domestic draft in Pattaya is 50 Baht/$1.60, had a few last night, not much different to the average $1.50 in PP
