Cambodia's leader calls for foreign military drills, aid

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

The kingdom also has aspirations to build "a new pier", said HE, though he did not specify where it would be located.
"Frankly speaking, we need funds from China to build this one -- but if you all want to give money, we would welcome it," he said.
Crying for money to build a fucking pier?

I can't go a single day driving in PP without seeing at least 3, half-million dollar vehicles ambling around.

I guess the coffers are running a bit low after putting out for that humongous monstrosity that is the new CPP headquarters on Norodom. Which looks to be just about finished.

If they let me back in I'll give them $50 to start them off.

They've really mastered the begging game. It's deeply engrained in the mindset, and sadly all the foreign donors are blind to it all. I remember thinking KIR was a bit of a dick when he said that the local flag should have an outstretched, cupped hand on it. For the past few years I haven't been able ti help but think that his observation was more astute than I'd cared to believe.

Sounds like a great idea, perhaps with tiny little Rolls-Royces and Mercedes cars in the background, looking like stars until closer inspection. Maybe someone should design a new flag for the KOW.
