Cambodia, China and the Dara Sakor Problem

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

I think you will find there are no US military bases in Pakistan John Bingham. There maybe some CIA dark ops there but Pakistan's military intelligence is quite adept no matter what you hear or read and so that in itself makes it difficult to work in the country. I can tell you about a couple of bases I as at in Afghanistan while I was there and yes the US "may" have used those bases to conduct drone strikes along and inside Pakistan's border in support of operations but it would have had an even more profound effect if US forces had been able to operate from in Pakistan.
Many Taliban and Al Queda operatives used the fact to their advantage and then left a rearguard made up of mainly North African, European, Chechen and Middle East fighters behind to slow the advance of allied military forces. They then used refugee camps in Pakistan along the border to come and go back into Afghanistan as they wanted in a similar fashion as to how they fought against the Russians to the best of my knowledge.

My general thought is China needs a military presence in the Gulf of Thailand so if the South China Sea becomes hostile they have another route around Singapore.

Fair enough, I believe they did use Pakistani military/ air force bases in the recent past though?
