Cambodia announced to ban entries of foreigners from Italy, Germany, Spain, France, and the US (Update: now lifted)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Unsure if this will be resolved shortly but I contacted the Embassy in D.C. to ask about how to get a visa because now they are allowing US Citizens into the country.
I am unsure how they can let US Citizens into Cambodia but the embassy is not giving visas... wtf??

Don't think they are issuing Visa's yet but if you already had one you can now come into the country on your passport, I've stopped stressing about getting home to Cambodia it will happen when it happens, in the meantime I do many trips to the bottle shop so my mates don't kick me out :beer3:

I think your problems will start when the bottle shop kicks you out.

I read that as:

* Cambodia is allowing USA to issue visas
* USA is declining to issue visas

In order to reduce and contain the transmision of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and in line with the measures taken by ASEAN countries, the Royal Government of Cambodia has decided to impose the temporary entry restrictions into the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Suspension to:
1- Visa exemption policy
2-Issuance of Tourist Visa
3-e-Visa (Online visa)
4-Visa upon arrival
but u could try emailing them, but dont expect a reply

like i said thou, fuck all that an just wait till these requirements are trashed binned

Hey. Trying to escape from the U.S. here. I was supposed to leave in March, but then this Covid-19 stuff happened. I've been reading for maybe about a year but have never posted.

I'm attempting to discuss/get info on one issue, but now I'm reading that we can't at any point get a visa, as of yet? That sounds like very very bad news. I was so happy today when I came across the news of the ban on Americans being lifted. They should change that situation. Wow.

Anyways, phuketrichard pointed out he'd seen info that the 72 hours was up until the point of departure. But most articles online from the last day seem to imply that it's within 72 hours of arrival. I'm hopeful that more light will be shed on this soon! I'll certainly be searching.

I wonder what happens if you show up negative for Covid, but then test positive after already being in the country? Perhaps through an... error in the testing? Or perhaps catching Covid from another traveller in the arrival terminal? Maybe if you'd already been there 14 days they'd let you stay and just quarantine you more, or hospitalize you at your expense (less likely I know)?

Just a couple of points for anyone trying to get to Cambodia in the near future.

1. Make sure its clarified that the 72 hour window is from your initial flight. ie, you check in at Boston but arrive in PNH +2 on a flight from Singapore. Is the 72 hours from the flight from Singapore or Boston. It would become a large issue if you experience a delay which leaves you in transit overnight in Seoul or Singapore or HK or anywhere else. I've asked a few airlines and the Cambodian embassy and have yet to get a clear answer (I don't think anything has been formally communicated to the international airlines yet).

2. What is an "approved" test? Are they accepting test results from private labs or only from government health authorities. And what document do they want?

3. Understand the current transit rules for any airport your considering transferring through. Keep in mind they make change overnight should there be an outbreak.

4. Understand that many airlines are doing everything possible to NOT issue refunds in situations where ruless are changed and your out of luck. They want to issue you a travel voucher or credit instead of returning your cash - leaving you with 1. Less cash. And 2. Fewer future options for travel.

5. If you don't have a current visa forget about trying to get to Cambodia any time soon.

Personally, I would at least wait until several weeks have passed and it is clear what is happening on the ground. Both in Cambodia but also in HK and Singapore and elsewhere. Then you could get clear picture of what is required, how other obtained what is required, and the cost/effort etc involved. Now is not the time to be a guinea pig. Good luck.
