Cadastral Official Dumps Rubble to Fill in Stung Prek Tnaot River*

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cambodia News (Kompong Speu Province): According to the villagers, on December 22, 2022, in Orussey village, Sangkat Roka Thom, Chbar Moan city, Kompong Speu province, an anonymous cadastral official called Art poured rubble into the Stung Prek Tnaot river to expand his area of river bank land.

The villagers urged the authorities to look into this matter, as they claim that this official's action could lead to catastrophic natural disasters like floods, land corrosion, and landslides affecting their homes, because it blocks a stream that flows across their land into the Stung Prek Tnaot river.

On December 23, 2022, after receiving complaints from the villagers, the press could not reach out to Mr. Art for clarification. However, Mr. Vy Samnang, the governor of Kampong Speu province was reached, and he assured that he will assign specialists to study whether filling the river would affect the homes of the residents.
