Brittney & Michelle to the Rescue

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Absolutely positive! Asians do not frequent prostitutes... and have nothing to do with human trafficking.

It seems Brittany and Michelle are well intentioned... if misinformed and naive.

What ever happened to the hairdresser who was coming 'to the rescue'?

and what are the 300 shiny lady bars on riverside for? prayer meetings. Expats are the worst hypocrites in the world when it comes to the sex trade. Full of wonderful excuses. Its not these girls fault that you are so umnattractive morally , physically or financially that you cannot get laid for free at home, gentlemen. it is your fault that you have to pay for sex, not theirs :stir:

I take it you're not an expat then.

Well I am not sure really. I don't go to lady bars, I don't pay for hookers, I don't get drunk and punch people and I don';t take drugs so you tell me...

There are "lady-bars" on Riverside? I never noticed any, where are they? The riverside is pretty sleazy, loads of beggars on the sidewalks and then a very sketchy scene across by the river itself. Glue-sniffers, homeless people with serious mental problems etc, but as far as I could ever work out it seems to be dominated by restaurants rather than bars. And I don't see where your moral indignation is coming from, or why you are assuming that someone who comments on local mores must be a total sleaze themselves. Are you projecting? 8-)

Not really john. I was referring to riverside the area. As far as I know the road you are referring to is called Sisowath Quay. I was responding to a post which was in an expat forum where many expats extol the virtues of the sex trade pointing a finger at khmers karaoke. Just seems a bit pot calling kettle black, or maybe using the locals behavior as an excuse for their own. By all means declare the virtues of hookers if you want, eve declare why your think its a good thing. but don't just say "well I can do it because the locals can"

prahocalypse now wrote: Mon Feb 12, 2018 7:08 pm Brittney and her mother Michelle from New South Wales are coming to Cambodia with $6,000 and lots of toiletries because Brittney heard about all girls who are trafficked and raped every day and felt she had to do something. The pair expect to get very emotional at times on their trip.
Give us a break, how about tackling the trafficking of men in the fishing industry in Thailand.

Slave labour has been rife on the vessels that sustain the seafood industry in Thailand. The country is the world’s fourth-largest exporter of seafood, after China, Norway and Vietnam, according to the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organisation, and Thai government figures show that Hong Kong is the industry’s fifth largest import market. Vulnerable migrant workers, mainly from Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos, but also impoverished Thais, have for years been lured onto fishing vessels with promises of well-paid jobs, although most never receive salaries. Others, like Samart, are drugged and kidnapped when they refuse to join a crew.http://www.scmp.com/magazines/post-maga ... one-victim
