British Tourists Carmen Pepita Gaskin and Lee Fishlock Injured in Hit and Run Accident in Sihanoukville
From Facebook:
"Unfortunately me and Lee have a couple of rough days. Yesterday we were involved in a hit and run, a car went into our side of the road on a turning, came at us head on and took us off our scooter, then swerved off the road, came back onto the road going even faster and hit two more scooters, then crashed into a building and did a runner. Luckily me and Lee had no serious injuries. We saw it coming and managed to fully brace ourselves, Lee was and has been amazing, moved the bike to protect our legs and without his driving it could have been so much worse for us, I grabbed onto Lee and swung him round and took our weight on the ground, Lee jumped up instantly and picked me up to see if I was ok and has looked after me and my poorly body so much. We can't cuddle really as are covered in cuts scraps bruises and burns, but we totally got each others backs.
We walked up to the wreckage and the other 2 people on the bikes were lying on the floor, a local lady badly injured her foot and was unconscious. A local boy was very severely injured, crushed an arm and leg into pieces and the police told us has internal bleeding. We were told that he passed away in hospital today. We are utterly heart broken for them.
The locals were so lovely and helpful. The poor boy was still conscious they were fanning him and rubbing his chest, they said to keep his heart going. They were fanning the girl too and were all reassuring the both of them. The women were all so kind to me rubbing my back, saying we've no need to worry and offering to clean my cuts. The guys at the hospital were kind, although laughed at me being in pain when sorting my arm leg and back out but I think they were just trying to make me smile.
This has been the most shocking thing I've ever seen. We are so so very thankful to whatever was watching over us and that we are ok. We were up straight away, I was in and out of hospital in no time, and we were back at our bungalow safe. We are so lucky. For so many reasons. This has definitely made us think, and appreciate a lot.
I can safely say I'll never be getting on a bike again. As for our rental bike, that got smashed up, the police took it for us.
Today we went back to the rental place and the lady was very understanding, she came with us to the police station this morning, we have just gone again. On our way back we saw and helped another guy who'd also been in a hit and run and his foot was badly cut. Apparently it's very common here. We need to go back to the police station tomorrow morning. Unsure as of yet how much it will set us back. But will keep everyone updated.
I no longer have a phone as was smashed in the accident. If you need to contact me please contact Lee. I also have Facebook on my tablet.
We have loved Cambodia so far, however would advice if you plan to travel here, avoid Sihanoukville. Police and locals have said its very dangerous.
Our thoughts are with the poor boy that lost his life. I really do hope they find the guy that did it, for his sake."

I won't hold my breath waiting for justice for the victims. Maybe a few hundred dollars for the boy's death and they'll call it even. The two Brits were fortunate to get away with very minor injuries.

Just wait until the brain dead drivers from PP and the provinces descend on SHV at NY in their oversized trucks driving with no regards for others! Time to stay off the roads for sure!

isnt that what facebook is for? post crap of your life online, so that everyone have crapal tunnel just to scroll through, btw i am being forced to use as it the only effective way of communicating with all my friend as im overseas, instead of using whatsapp, wechat, line, zalo, kakao, skype, bee talk, etcSinnSisamouth wrote:so i know i am an old twat (you are not old!) and dont really get this post-your-life-online crap but why would anyone care enough?

Apart from SV, the roads in Cambodia are safe as houses...We have loved Cambodia so far, however would advice if you plan to travel here, avoid Sihanoukville. Police and locals have said its very dangerous.
