Re: British Tourist Peter Riley Dies in Sihanoukville Bar
Ok, fair enough. I guess I have changed my mind.
Seems he died from either too much alcohol in his system, or, which I think is more likely, he drank "too much" and passed out, choking on his vomit.
I guess that happens.

Re: American Tourist Peter Riley Dies in Sihanoukville Bar
His friend said "they" drank 40 beers over a 12 hour period, not that Peter Riley drank 40 beers. Anyway, it seems that they are trying to get his corpse repatriated, maybe the British authorities can do a more accurate autopsy and determine the cause of death, otherwise we'll never know. Either way it's a real shame that a young guy like that ends up snuffing it on holiday.TheGrinchSR wrote: But 40 Cambodian beers in a day?
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Let me get this straight, the guesthouse owner finds the body of a dead or unconscious guest, and after calling an ambulance, he immediately has the body carried out of the guesthouse and plopped on the ground out front?

Holy shit! Peter Riley's friends and family, etc have raised over £7,000 in less than a day to get his body repatriated back to Jersey!

Re: British Tourist Peter Riley Dies in Sihanoukville Bar
Apparently, when people die in bars and guesthouses, the police charge a fee of $800-$1000 to remove the body and "clear" the guesthouse of wrongdoing, and if this is not paid, the police close the guesthouse for "investigation" until it is paid.snookie BRO wrote: Care to explain?
When a cynic like myself hears that the All Nations guesthouse owner removed a dead body from his premises and plopped it in the dirt out in front of his business before the police could arrive, I question whether he thought the guy was alive and that the dirt out front was twas the best, most convenient, and most hygienic place to put the guest in the "recovery" position, or whether he just wanted to get the body out of the building ASAP and toss it outside with the trash in the hopes of saving money.

Re: British Tourist Peter Riley Dies in Sihanoukville Bar
Looks like he was in the Philippines and Thailand with his friend Danny Roberts before partying it up in Cambodia:
And the latest article from BBC News:
Tributes have been paid to a Jersey man who has died in Cambodia.
Peter Riley, 25, was found dead in Sihanoukville Province in the south west of the country on Monday.
His family have launched a fundraising campaign to pay for repatriation and funeral costs which has so far raised more than £5,000 in donations.
Hundreds of islanders have paid tribute to Mr Riley who was travelling with a friend. Details of how he died have not yet been released.
'Simply irreplaceable'
The family has released a statement, which said: "Pete was the life and soul of parties, always wore a cheeky smile and was a legend of a brother, a son, a cousin, a nephew and a friend.
"He is quite simply irreplaceable and words cannot do justice to explain just how much he will be missed by everyone."
Ann Roberts, whose son Danny was understood to be travelling with Mr Riley, said her "heart is going out to everyone who knew and loved Pete Riley".
His friend Allana Binnie, has been helping with the campaign to raise £10,000, which has had more than 200 donations in less than 17 hours.
She said: "Pete leaves behind his treasured family including his special sister Jess and an abundance of friends.
"It is extremely touching to see Jersey pull together in such a remarkable way."
Jess Riley is believed to be travelling to Cambodia to make arrangements to bring his body back to the island.

He drinks himself to death and the first words of the family's statement are that he was the life and soul of parties.
It looks like the tattoo on his abdomen says "Where did it all go wrong?"
Who is depicted in the tattoo on his right shoulder?
