Can you imagine the UK handing out leaflets at airports to visitors advising them to be careful when buying heroin? And don't forget that a hell of a lot more foreigners die from heroin in the UK than here.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I really don't get it why people still take heroin, if they already knew that it is really dangerous. Anyone tried, how does it feel ?

It's a painkiller, and is still prescribed for medical reasons - for example in terminal cancer patients. In illegal use, apparently it at first gives a user an extremely strong feeling of euphoria and being content. As it is highly addictive, eventually a user will feel very down and sick if they don't have any. Back in my home city in Europe, there are thousands of addicts all over the streets. I'm glad that it isn't so popular here, but the locally available heroin is very pure and strong, compared to western countries where it is diluted with other substances.

I've used heroin before, but agree it is very addicting. Injecting it is far more addictive than snorting it. But neither is a good idea to do frequently. I usually try to put several months between any opiate use, making it for special occasions.
The reason people die is that drugs like heroin are very difficult to dose properly and people aren't careful. Any time you get a new batch of drugs, you should start with a very small amount. Drugs in Cambodia tend to be much purer and thus more potent than drugs in the west and this isn't always accounted for.
Heroin doesn't just randomly kill people; those people are just using too much. Too much alcohol will also kill you.
And in this thread's case, the guy mistook it for cocaine anyway, so he definitely would've taken too much.
Most of the dangers surrounding drugs exist because we've pushed them into the shadows. Decriminalization would solve a lot, just look at Portugal as a model in that area. They solved their HIV and overdose problem by decriminalization of all drugs about ten or fifteen years ago.

Some people can not function outside their mindless nanny state back home, where their government is deemed responsible for protecting everyone from themselves.John Bingham wrote:Can you imagine the UK handing out leaflets at airports to visitors advising them to be careful when buying heroin?
