Re: British Robert Skillin Arrested in Sihanoukville with Dr
From what I gather, he's the owner of Eden Hostel. Seems he came out to Cambodia with the intention of running Eden guesthouse/hostel/bar.
And he's made it to the Phnom Penh Post:
Police in Preah Sihanouk province yesterday arrested a British national in a guesthouse for alleged drug possession.
Brigadier General Chuon Narin, the newly appointed police chief for the province, said his officers had been investigating 33-year old Robert John Skillin before making the arrest in Sihanoukville town yesterday afternoon. Police allegedly seized several illicit drugs from Skillin, including ice and ecstasy. They also found $2,000 in cash and impounded a motorbike.
Narin said the Brit would be sent to court today.
Skillin’s arrest marks the first time a foreigner has been picked up for alleged crimes since Narin was last week appointed as the coastal province’s new police chief. His predecessor, Seang Kosal, had been lambasted by Interior Minister Sar Kheng for failing to stem crimes committed by and against foreigners in the tourist hub.
Numerous violent incidents in recent months, several believed to be linked to ongoing disputes between Russians in Sihanoukville, have shined the spotlight on crime in the area.

Sad times, but he had to see it coming. Don't sell drugs if you're a foreigner. I wonder if he was selling to the backpackers that stayed with him? Wouldn't be surprised.

Yeah, he definitely would have known the risks of selling drugs in Cambodia.
Hopefully he made enough money to buy his way out of it (but I'm guessing not).

Re: British Robert Skillin Arrested in Sihanoukville with Dr
A British national was charged Friday with drug trafficking after a police raid on his Sihanoukville City hotel room Wednesday turned up a haul of methamphetamine and cannabis, officials said.
Tak Sarith, chief of the Preah Sihanouk provincial anti-drug trafficking office, said Robert Skilling, 28, was arrested at the Eden Hostel near Serendipity Beach with about 88 grams of cannabis, 5 grams of crystal methamphetamine and two methamphetamine tablets.
“We arrested him as he was relaxing in his room. Under questioning, he told police that the drugs were only small [quantities] for sharing with his friends and that he thought Cambodian police would not arrest him over the small amount,” said Mr. Sarith.
He added that Mr. Skilling was also found with $2,000 cash, scales and a crude pipe for smoking drugs. The British national faces between two and five years in prison if found guilty.
Sam Sophass, the owner of Eden Hostel, said the suspect—who according to his Facebook profile is from Kent, England—may have been the victim of a setup.
Ms. Sophass said that about an hour before the bust, which she witnessed, a group of Cambodian men had visited Mr. Skilling’s room, where they dropped off a bag.
“[Police] checked in the bag and it had crystal ice, not much, but in the pictures [on local media] there’s a lot,” she said. “I think somebody wants to try and rip him off…before he did [drugs] a little bit, but just him and his friends.”
The arrest comes as authorities attempt to halt a recent spike in crime carried out by and against foreigners in the tourist town. Earlier this month, the Preah Sihanouk provincial police chief was removed and replaced by Chuon Narin, former deputy chief of the Phnom Penh municipal force.
Huoth Vicheth, prosecutor for the provincial court, confirmed Friday that Mr. Skilling had been charged with drug trafficking.
“We have charged him with illegal drug possession and drug trafficking,” said Mr. Vicheth. “The evidence showed there is a lot of drugs, so how can he say it’s only for personal use?”

One of the top 10 rules of drug dealing is that if you DO get caught (and are stupid enough to talk to the police) you at least tell them it's all for personal use! Not for sharing with your friends, not for selling to your friends, but all for you!

The actual quantity of drugs is something I would consider a personal use amount, but the way they're divided make it pretty obvious that they're meant for resale.
And GM, you're spot on. As stupid as it would have sounded, he should have stuck to his personal use argument. Don't make it easy for the pigs.

Yeah, I would have just claimed I bought them that way. Might work in the States at least, LoL.MekongMouse wrote:The actual quantity of drugs is something I would consider a personal use amount, but the way they're divided make it pretty obvious that they're meant for resale.

The biggest news here is that Justin Beiber has a brother.
