"That info" being that Tony owned Tony's Bar, but clearly that's not the same Tony who managed Shanghai Bar.
Are we getting closer with this?

OK. But Tony Byrne is still alive. Why did you post that he's dead?General Mackevili wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2017 8:03 pm "That info" being that Tony owned Tony's Bar, but clearly that's not the same Tony who managed Shanghai Bar.

I ran into him one night years ago when he was going to every bar looking for someone who would have been shitting. He told me another night that he got in a fight in one of the bar streets and after the bloke punched him twice in the head, he thought this is serious.
Took glasses off and bashed the shit out of him. He was a tough old bastard.I liked the man.
RIP
I thought Tony's Bar near Psah Thmei (130?) was run by an English northerner? I think he had been a fisherman or merchant navy or something previously. If you're talking about Tony the manager of Shanghai, I knew him a bit and he was a hard man. Shanghai used to have a little school desk with a drawer outside it back then with a couple of guards( off-duty military) sitting there, you were supposed to deposit all your side-arms and grenades there, you could collect them on the way out. Then you had to get past Tony, who was always a total gent but wasn't shy about using that stun-gun he always had in his pocket. Good geezer, sorry to hear he has passed but he had a good innings, RIP.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

If he's 66 he's on borrowed time, that's for sure.

^^^ Yes, I read something about that somewhere by someone.

His age is incorrect. he was 73. I knew him for about 10years, and drank with him at the Black Cat. He used to come quite often on either Monday or Thursday when Danny was playing. He would always sing a couple of songs. Nice guy, will miss him.

No, I meant that the still living Tony Byrne is 66. Fuck, this is confusing.

I guess the original Facebook post by Shanghai Bar got his name wrong. The pictures are correct.
Tony Byrne did own Tony's Bar, then went to SHV to work for Ezecom. I hope he's still around.
Before Facebook, I never knew anyone's last name. Sorry!
