Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

You have access to an article that says he was acquitted? Was it posted here already? (Maybe I missed it.) if not, please post it, or the details of it. Name of the publication, date, and the text or details of the article. Unless there is some reasonable question about the veracity of the article, that should be mire than enough to revise this thread in order to clear this man's name.

It is expected that the body of Mr Hale will be returned home at the weekend.

His mother Teresa Temple said on Tuesday night that he had suffered a heart attack after taking drugs.

She told the BBC: "I know that it was morphine tablets that he had taken and they caused a heart attack.

ok;read the quote but how does she know what he took or died of 6,000 miles away? Was he taking morphine pills before ( they are usually Prescribed for pain, my mom was on them for cancer) is she an MD and had access to the autopsy files? Was there an autopsy?

sorry but :stir:

His mother accepts it, but you can't. Why is that?
What if his mother was an MD? , what if his mother had access to the autopsy files? , what if there was an autopsy? You would still find something to :stir:

She is not a doctor.

My guess is that there was no autopsy, or at least not a proper one by western standards. That the Cambodian cops, if they gave any explanation at all, took a guess at what they think it is, perhaps based on circumstantial evidence, or maybe on the hospital report. And/or that the Cambodian cops and/or somebody close to him with some direct or semi-direct knowledge, such as his compatriot, said that he had taken morphine or pills, and that she doesn't find this outside the realm of possibility for him. Just a guess.

Though this does seem to contradict the hospital's supposed claim reported earlier in this thread that they did not find opiates in his system.

I'd assume that the dead guy's cousin told his bereaved aunt what they had been taking that night that left one of them dead and the other in an ICU. Otherwise she wouldn't make such a sure statement.

Most people would tell the truth if someone had died. It makes a lot more sense than your ridiculous assertion that he was taking morphine for pain. Yeah, sure - that explains why one person died and the other was hospitalized at the same time.

And to be fair it also said, "Last year he was acquitted of drugs possession with intent to supply and possessing criminal property."
