Re: British Doctor Clive Robert Kingsley Cressy Arrested At Jars of Clay in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Pedophile Charges
So, one lady on Facebook says we ought to remove "Jars of Clay Cafe" from this article of Clive Cressy's arrest, as it's bad publicity for them.
While I agree that they probably don't appreciate being brought up in this, it's pretty routine for the names of businesses to be named when newsworthy events happen there.
Would anyone read this and decide NOT to go there based on this story? I'm genuinely curious.
"This is a horrible story and I am glad justice is being done. But I have a request for this news outlet: it will be nice if you keep the name of the restaurant out of this mess, they are sweet Cambodian women trying make a living and having their name on something like this is horrible and bad advertising. Arresting that man in their place has nothing to do with them!
We agree with your opinion of Jars of Clay Cafe, but it doesn't change the fact that he was arrested there.
That said, where people are arrested, even in Western counties, is often published.
I personally love eating there, and think they truly have some of the best food in Phnom Penh. I don't think anyone who reads our article would think anything negative about them simply because he was arrested there, but I fully understand what you're saying.
No publicity is bad publicity, right?
Admin
I am the owner of a very popular restaurant also and I wouldn't like this kind of publicity, I rather have no publicity at all than to be mentioned in disgusting news like this!! It will be better to just mention that he was arrested in one of the near restaurants of Russian market. And Just for your information... my friends from this restaurant are very up sad you mentioned them and thats one of the reasons I am writing you to please respect peoples privacy...

IMHO removing it is irrelevant. The sign appears in one of the pictures doesn't it?

As Mr Kiwi says, the name is already out there in many news outlets and photos.
Their Marketing Team should exploit this to the fullest. Turn it into a opportunity. Get your name out there for the world to see.

Unless the viewers are massively retarded, I don't think anyone is going to think Jars of Clay was responsible in any way, shape of form.

There may be more to this:
From the PPP article.According to [police chief] Thea, computers and cameras were confiscated. He suggested the involvement of a mastermind acting as a broker for a network to lure young girls to meet foreigners, but didn’t elaborate further.

The website of APLE [Child protection society Action Pour Les Enfants] says the woman involved in procuring the children was their aunt:
Following Probe, Man Accused of Buying Sex With Underage Girls
A U.K. man has been arrested on suspicion of purchasing child prostitution after anti-human trafficking police raided his apartment in Phnom Penh’s Chamkar Mon district on Thursday afternoon, according to police and a child protection NGO.
A monthslong investigation led to the arrest of 69-year-old Clive Cressy, who is alleged to have exchanged money for sex with four young girls, said Keo Thea, chief of the municipal anti-human trafficking bureau.
The girls—aged 12, 13, 14 and 15—were prostituted by one of their aunts, who was also being detained and interrogated on Thursday, according to Samleang Seila, executive director of Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE).
“Definitely, there was physical abuse and the exchange of money,” he said. “One of the girls was paid for virginity sex,” he said, adding that the broker most likely received most of the payment.
Mr. Seila said the U.K. man first appeared on his NGO’s radar late last year after they were tipped off by an informant. APLE began conducting an investigation, but had not identified any victims by the time the four girls reported the abuse on Thursday while being interviewed by police, he added.
Mr. Cressy had been in and out of Cambodia since the investigation began last year and had just returned to the country at the time of his arrest, he added.
